Service Description
This course helps fifth graders strengthen reading, writing, and comprehension skills through active, hands-on, and collaborative learning. This course is for students who benefit from kinesthetic and creative approaches due to the blend of movement, storytelling, and real-world scenarios to build confidence and skill mastery. Students engage in activities based upon: reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, essay structure, summarizing, and text analysis. This is done through dynamic activities such as reader’s theater, comprehension hunts, interactive vocabulary games, and structured writing workshops with peer feedback. When students learn to engage with each others work it builds their decoding abilities and confidence in their own skills. Projects may include creating multi-chapter stories, producing scripts for short videos or podcasts, designing character analysis boards, creating mini newspapers, and building visual story maps. Each project is crafted to make literacy engaging and relevant. This course is ideal for learners who enjoy guided practice, movement-based learning, or creative pathways to understanding. Students leave with stronger reading skills, clearer writing skills, and a deeper appreciation for storytelling and communication.
