Service Description
This course uses movement, hands-on projects, and math manipulatives to help students build strong number sense and confidence with foundational math skills. First graders thrive when learning is active and meaningful, so each lesson blends physical engagement, creative problem-solving, and tactile exploration. Students practice key skills such as addition, subtraction, place value, patterns, and measurement through movement-based activities like math relays, number-hop games, and kinesthetic problem-solving challenges. These activities help math concepts “stick” by connecting learning to the body (Total Physical Response). Each session also features project-based learning, giving students the chance to apply math in real-world contexts through building models, creating charts, designing blueprints for simple games, or completing collaborative problem-solving tasks. Math manipulatives such as cubes, number lines, counters, and place-value tools ensure that abstract concepts become concrete and accessible. The course builds confidence, strengthens critical thinking, and supports diverse learning styles while helping students see math as a hands-on, exciting, and achievable subject.
